Sunlit Moments with Bea in the Chicken Run

Sunlit Moments with Bea in the Chicken Run

The best part of my days lately is this. ❤️ Sitting in the chicken run with Bea curled up in my lap, completely relaxed, warm in the sunshine, and eventually drifting off to sleep. I never expected when we brought these little chicks home that I’d end up with a chicken who actually asks for snuggles and is perfectly happy being held like a baby. But here we are. 🥹🐔

There’s something so peaceful about these quiet little moments with her. No chores, no work, no to-do list. Just me and my sweet Bea, soaking up a few minutes together. The sunlit dust motes drift through the air, and the soft heartbeat of a chicken perched on my knee feels like a gentle reminder to slow down and breathe. Our little flock has become a warm rhythm to the day—eggs warming in the morning, the cluck of happiness when the coop door opens, and afternoons spent watching them scratch in the dust under the maple tree.

Life here isn’t about grand milestones; it’s about the small rituals—the way Bea naps while I plan tomorrow’s sourdough or how the kids count the eggs like treasure. Moments like these settle into the week like a warm blanket, making the busy days feel lighter. We’re learning to cherish these pauses, to listen to the quiet and let it teach us to slow down, to notice the sun on feathers and the soft sighs of a well-loved homestead.

One of my favorite parts of sharing this with you all is knowing these simple, gentle mornings matter to someone else, too. Thanks for riding along with us on this journey toward a calmer, kinder everyday. ❤️
