First Eggs, Quiet Milestones, Simple Joys

Today my flock gave me their very first eggs, and my heart is honestly overflowing. I’ve spent weeks watching these girls grow, change, and settle into their rhythms. Every little sign — the softening combs, the new sounds, the lingering in the nesting boxes — felt like pieces of a puzzle I was slowly learning how to read. I mapped out the timeline, trusted my instincts, and hoped I wasn’t imagining things… and today, those beautiful green eggs proved I wasn’t.
There’s something incredibly special about homestead milestones. They’re quiet, simple moments — but they carry so much meaning. It’s the feeling of working alongside nature, learning from it, and finally seeing the results of patience, care, and a whole lot of love. I stood at the coop this morning and heard the soft cluck of contentment, a little morning routine that already feels like home.
My girls did it. And I’m proud of them… but I’m also proud of me. Proud that I paid attention. Proud that I trusted myself. Proud that I’m learning how to be the kind of chicken mama who really knows her flock. These moments remind me why we work with the land and the seasons, not against them.
These little eggs are more than breakfast - they’re a reminder that I’m building something beautiful out here. One feather, one project, one tiny miracle at a time. 🥚💚✨
